Louisville’s Blight Out Project Saturday to Brighten Vacant Homes

Louisville, Ky., – Blight Out Brighten Up is back for 2015. Public Works is partnering with the Department of Codes and Regulations to sponsor the third Blight Out Brighten Up event. The event uses citizen volunteers to paint boards that are used to secure abandoned properties. Painting is scheduled for Saturday, May 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All volunteers need to bring is their imaginations. Painting necessities will be supplied.

Volunteers will paint 8-foot x 4-foot plywood boards. Participants in the 2012 and 2013 Blight Out events had a blast being creative and got to see their work Brighten Up abandoned properties. If you are unable to volunteer on May 16th, please consider donating paint, brushes, drop cloths, coffee, donuts, snacks, water, sodas, ice, pizzas, rollers, and containers for paint distribution.
