March 5: Threatstop, and Strothman Technology Solutions Will Educate the Technology community at the Inaugural TALK Event

(Louisville, KY—Feb. 13, 2013)—The first inaugural TALK public meeting will be held on March 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Brown-Forman Playroom, 626 W. Main St. (across from 21C).  TALK stands for the Technology Association of Louisville Kentucky.

The meeting sponsors are:  Strothman Technology Solutions, a division of Strothman & Company, and the Louisville office of Resources Global Professionals. From 77 offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, RGP serves 1,900 clients in 66 countries with project based operational consulting, particularly in the areas of accounting & finance, human capital, information management and supply chain management. Strothman Technology Solutions provides outsourced IT consulting and services to all levels of enterprises, primarily in the Louisville area.

The educational association invites membership from other technology-based groups, individuals working in technology fields, as well as all levels of corporate membership from startups to large enterprises.  At this time, there is no cost for participating in key events and membership signup is encouraged at www.talklou.com to receive the association benefits, which include promotion of your community tech events, dissemination of other technology-centric company or organization news, job leads, and networking online connections.  Additionally, clusters are encouraged to form around special interests for smaller group educational and mindshare gatherings about town. The first clusters are anticipated in ecommerce, big data, healthcare IT and mobility, for example.

On March 5, TALK will host the national speaker Tomas Byrnes, CEO of Threatstop.  He will address the attendees on the topic, “The Evolution of the Cyber Battlefield.” There will be a cash bar and complimentary appetizers, sponsored by GLI’s Enterprise Corp.   Byrnes will explore the evolution of cybercrime over the past year and the three key cyber security threats you should pay attention to in 2013. There will also be a presentation on a local real-world case study on “Saving Money with VMWare Using Terminal Services.” Matt Mercurio of Strothman Technology Solutions will review the recent implementation his firm delivered for a Louisville area client. His talk will cover converting or building your environment with VMWare, gaining ROI on maintenance and the cost of ownership.

Byrnes has held a variety of engineering, sales and support leadership positions in both private industry and the military, including: US Army Signal Corps, Radware and Datatech. In the mid 1990s, he was CTO of an ISP and e-commerce hosting company ADNC.com. In the early 2000s, he was Senior VP of Technology at Zero Gravity Internet Group, a venture capital fund that provided the initial financing to Oingo, which you know today as Google Adwords/Adsense. Tom has been involved in the Internet and related technologies since he first logged on to ESANET in 1981.

Mercurio formerly co-hosted The GEEK Factor on WBKI 21 from 2009-2011, as well as other  TV training programs showing how to use technology.  He has worked as the IT Director for Clear Channel Communications in the Louisville market, as well as WHAS Radio IT Director for  Belo Broadcasting.  He is now a technology consultant and advisor at Strothman Technology Solutions.
