Louisville, KY – Neighborhood Place locations in Louisville will offer free, money-saving workshops in December to help residents conserve energy, build extra wealth through couponing, and cook healthier. Dec. 1 – Dec. 11 (weekdays), Energy Management Workshops at Urban Government Center, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Project Warm will offer half-hour long workshops to help families take control of their energy usage and learn “do-it-yourself” energy-saving tips. Free supplies will be distributed at the end of the workshop such as clear plastic/tape for windows, caulk to seal openings around windows and sealing foam.
Dec 1, 8 and 15, Couponing Support Group at Ujima Neighborhood Place, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Located at 3610 Bohne Ave. Call 485-6145 to register. Learn tips and money-saving ideas to help build extra financial wealth in using coupons while grocery shopping. Facilitated by couponing guru, Kim Mapp.
Dec. 2 and Dec. 16, Legal Aid Office Hours at South Central Neighborhood Place, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Located at 4255 Hazelwood Ave. Call 485-7130 for more information. A Legal Aid Society staff member will be on hand to answer questions, talk about cases that Legal Aid handles and provide referrals.
Dec. 8, Free Blood Pressure Checks at Ujima Neighborhood Place, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Located at 3610 Bohne Ave. Call 485-6145 for more information. Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness health educators will be on hand to provide free blood pressure checks.
Dec. 8 and 15, New Year Budget Management Workshop at Ujima Neighborhood Place, 6 – 7 p.m.

In this workshop entitled ” Saving for the New Year and Cooking Healthy on a Budget“, Valerie Holland with University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension will provide ideas and steps toward having control over spending and cooking healthy meals.
Dec. 8 10, 15 and 16, WeCare Energy Efficiency Overview

Representatives from the WeCare Program at LG&E will be on hand to talk with interested persons about energy efficiency, energy usage and tips to reduce utility bills. WeCare staff can also help determine if households are eligible for a variety of free services including air duct sealing and insulation, attic and wall insulation, programmable thermostats and much more.

Dec. 15, Healthy Journey for Two Educational Baby Shower at NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 10 – 12:00 p.m.
Located at 4018 W. Market St. Registrations are required by contacting Mendy Mason at 341-5400 or atmmason@sevencounties.org. Seven Counties and KIDSNow Plus will host this educational baby shower to share information on how to care for yourself and your baby while being pregnant. Pregnant attendees receive multiple chances to win free baby items throughout the class and receive a gift card at the completion of class.
Dec. 16, Nutrition Education Class at South Central Neighborhood Place, 1 – 2 p.m.
Located at 4255 Hazelwood Ave. Call 569-2344 or 485-7135 for more information and to register. This session will help families learn about basic nutrition and healthy cooking and eating. Individuals and families are invited to bring their nutritional concerns to the class as nutritional professionals will be available to provide answers.
