New Louisville Ky downtown bridge now has a name

The new bridge is now the Abraham Lincoln Bridge

Louisville, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has named the new Downtown Louisville bridge, the Abraham Lincoln bridge.

In a press conference this afternoon, Beshear said he could think of nobody more deserving than the 16th president of the United States.

“No other Kentuckian has done more for us …  naming this bridge in his honor is a fitting tribute to a …moralist and leader,” Beshear said.

Beshear says it’s fitting that the bridge links Kentucky (where Lincoln was born) and Indiana (where he lived as a boy).

The public is invited to walk the bridge this Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

You’ll still have to pay tolls to cross that bridge — anywhere between $1 and $12 a crossing.
