Norma Jean’s, and how they’re lining up for a new bakery in New Albany

Speaking as a sweet-toothed resident of New Albany, hearty congratulations to Jerrica Tinsley for liberating a small structure at 216 W. Main St. in New Albany from its previous shabby condition of “motorcycle emptiness”* by spiffing it up and opening a “retro walk-up dessert bar” called Norma Jean’s Baked Goods.

Over at Louisville Business First, reporter Olivia Estright has the details.

Despite the building not being completely finished yet, Tinsley said that hasn’t stopped customers from selling her out every Thursday and Friday.

“Every week, I’m making more and more to try to keep up,” she said. “The word of mouth is fast.”

Norma Jean’s offers cake slices, brownies, cobblers and chess bars ranging from $5 to $8. Although the pop-up doesn’t start until 4 p.m., the line begins to form down the street around 3 p.m. — once people see her working in the store.

Currently Norma Jean’s is open on Thursdays and Fridays, although hours are subject to change.
