Louisville, KY (November 22, 2016) – The Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA), an alliance of more than 850 locally owned and independent businesses, is proud to offer an eGift Card that will be good at over 50 member businesses.
Gift cards are often a convenient choice for gift giving, and this card will offer an impressive array of places to redeem the eGift Card. Buyers can also feel good because their purchases are keeping more money in our community and supporting the businesses that make our town unique.
To celebrate the launch of the card, a special deal is being offered through Tuesday, November 29, 2016 where buyers who purchase $100 or more in eGift Cards will get an extra $20 gift card. eGift Cards are available for purchase online at keeplouisvilleweird.com.
“We’ve had numerous requests over the years for a gift card that would be accepted at multiple local businesses,” says Jennifer Rubenstein, Executive Director of LIBA. “We think this will be popular with thoughtful gifters who want their purchases to have an impact.”
Another bonus for shopping local is an entry into LIBA’s hoLOUdays Contest, which officially launches on Small Business Saturday, November 26th. To enter the contest, shoppers must collect receipts from LIBA member businesses and then present the receipts for review at one of the sponsor sites (Heine Brothers’ Coffee or Feeders Supply locations) or submit via mail/online/email/text by January 3, 2017. The winner will receive $1,000 to spend at LIBA member businesses of their choice.
LIBA will host a press conference on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26th at 10am at Heine Brothers’ Coffee’s new headquarters, 1301 W. Main Street, to officially launch the contest. Mayor Fischer and Congressman Yarmuth will also be in attendance to celebrate the day and share remarks. On a larger scale, LIBA members throughout the city will celebrate Small Business Saturday by chalking their sidewalks with “Buy Local” messages and posting images to social media.
A recent study of Louisville-area businesses shows that for every $100 spent at a locally-owned, independent business, $55 is reinvested locally, whereas only $14 is reinvested when that same money is spent at a national chain. By shopping local, consumers also help to preserve the unique community character of the Metro Louisville area.
