Louisville, KY., – Officials with Passport Health Plan, metro government and other local officials have broken ground on a new 337,000 square foot, four story building at 18th Street and Broadway. The building, along with three connected structures called “pods”, is slated to open in 2020.
The new office space will house more than 500 employees with meeting space to “directly engage with members and residents”, a cafeteria to serve both employees and the public, a community teaching kitchen, and private meeting space for Passport member services staff.
“This is a huge win for west Louisville,” said Mayor Greg Fischer on his Facebook page. Fischer said this new facility is part of $800 million in investments west of 9th Street.
Construction of the Passport campus is projected to cost about $100 million.
The Community Foundation of Louisville is also kicking in a $500,000 loan saying it is “honored to be part of Passport’s expansion in West Louisville” and help create jobs, affordable housing and increase access to healthcare.
Among the organizations expected to take advantage of the new space: The University of Louisville Office of Community Engagement, UofL’s School of Public Health and Information Sciences, Gilda’s Club and Hosparus Health.
