Full disclosure: the author was beer director at Pints&union from 2018 through 2023.

Eight months after debuting at 1576 Bardstown Rd. on New Year’s Eve following its move from New Albany, dissolution came quietly for Pints&union after a final performance on Saturday.

Connoisseurs of irony (alas, our numbers steadily dwindle) will note that during the past few days the New Albany Tavern has opened “soft” at 114 E. Market, former home to Pints&union. The Tavern’s grand opening and first official day comes on Thursday, September 4.

And, we know that activity will recommence later this fall at the now departed P&u’s Deer Park floor space, where the pub’s cessation is being explained by ownership as “evolution” in the form of a Creole restaurant helmed by chef Lawrence Weeks, which should be coming later in autumn.

It seems appropriate to turn back the clock to early 2019, and a glimpse from our print edition into the advent of Pints&union.
