Pitino Secures 600th Win Over Tennessee-Martin, 83-48

Rick Pitino is in good company. Pitino joins greats like John Wooden, Dean Smith, and Adolph Rupp as the 38th coach to reach the six century mark. Pitino is also the 15th fastest coach to reach the mark.

Welcome to the 600 Club Rick.

The win came easy, as the Cards received little trouble from the Skyhawks. Louisville was dominant, holding TMU to only 46 points.

Chane Behanan started off his year with a double-double. A reiteration of his potential contribution to the Cardinals’ campaign. Behanan tied the game-high with Kyle Kuric at 14 points.

Louisville played much more efficiently with Peyton Siva on the court. The Junior returned from a concussion to a smoother offense. He passed effectively, racking up 9 assists on the night.

UofL looked the most comfortable it has yet. The Cards were poised and calm all game.

Jared Swopshire led the bench with 8 points. Although Pitino has mentioned that Swopshire wouldn’t be the player he was before the groin injury that sat him down for over a year, he has looked very good for  a player in that circumstance.

Louisville’s full court press was especially effective. The Cards forced 20 turnovers and 13 alone in the first half. Tennessee-Martin couldn’t figure out the press and never held a lead.
