Packers-Steelers: Count me among those disappointed in the outcome of yesterday’s games, as I was hoping for a Bears-Jets SB XLV. The big game is two weeks away in Dallas. No local angle, really, unless you count ex-Cards Jason Spitz of Green Bay and William Gay for Pittsburgh. Both teams, though, have huge local fan bases. I’ll be surprised if any local reporters cover it. I’m looking forward to the commercials. Speaking of which, how about those NFL TV ratings, which all may be ending after this off-season, as Eric Crawford explained Sunday.
Politics of Being Nice: Mitch McConnell and John Yarmuth are participating in a forum at U of L today, ““Do Words Matter in Political Discourse?” It’s at Noon, moderated by Mark Hebert. Why? Because some idiot shot a Congresswoman in Arizona.
Another in for Governor: I wonder who’s advising Jefferson County Clerk Bobbi Holsclaw that she has a chance to win the Republican nomination for governor. She’s got little name recognition locally, and zero out in the state, and picked an unknown high school history teacher as a running mate. And of course there’s the high-profile David Williams/Richie Farmer ticket.
Wayne’s World: It’s Week 2 of Wayne Perkey’s TV show, and his guests this week include actor William Mapother, along with Matt Jamie of Bourbon Barrel Foods and Mary Moseley, who runs the Galt House. So if you can find it (WKYI, Insight 138, Indiana 9), it’s worth watching. First airing is tonite at 10.
Suggestion – PowerPoint Lessons: Did you see that Metro Government released a PowerPoint last week offering up results of a survey of Metro supervisors? It offered 82 suggestions, all pretty vague, sounding a lot like Mayor Fischer’s big-idea campaign promises. High on ideals, low on actual stuff to do. Like this great one – developing a 10-yuear plan to make Louisville a world-class city. My idea – start with showing whoever’s doing the media how to make it so the wordsdon’talljamtogether.
