Jason Brown, owner of Brownie’s “The Shed” Grille & Bar in Plainview (9900 Linn Station Rd.) died last week. Our friend Dan Thomas offered these sentiments, which are shared by a great many.

Jason was one of the best people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. Because of him and Brownie’s, I’ve met so many lifelong friends. He built a successful business based on knowing people and taking care of them. Gone way too early.

Following is the obituary at Dignity.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jason Ross Brown, age 38, of Louisville, who left us unexpectedly on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at his home. Born on March 23, 1987, in Louisville, Jason was a beloved son, a cherished friend, and a dedicated community member whose spirit touched the lives of many.

Jason was the son of Keith and Carla (Tillett) Brown, and he grew up in a loving family that instilled in him the values of hard work, compassion, and community service. A proud graduate of Trinity High School in 2005, he furthered his education at the University of Louisville, where he cultivated his entrepreneurial spirit.

As the owner and operator of Brownie’s “The Shed” Grille and Bar, Jason created a welcoming space for friends and family to gather, share laughter, and enjoy good food. His passion for community engagement led him to co-found Eventris with his dear friend, Joey Wagner, where they organized events such as Pink Prom. As well as The Turkey Drive, held annually at Brownie’s, his mission will live on, bringing joy and support for those in need. We hope this will be the biggest year yet.

A devoted member of Southeast Christian Church, Jason found strength and fellowship in the Men’s Bible Study group, where he formed lasting friendships and shared his faith. He was known for his warm heart, infectious smile, unmistakable laugh, and the way he made everyone feel like family. He will be remembered by the little ones who adored him as their cherished ‘Uncle J’, a testament to his nurturing spirit and the love he shared with those around him.

Jason is survived by his loving parents, Keith and Carla Brown; his faithful dog, Sockie; his grandmothers, JoAnn Tillett and Rosie Brown; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Carl Tillett...Read more
