LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 25, 2017) – – Quality drinks and tantalizing bar food can now be enjoyed at Red Herring Cocktail Lounge and Kitchen, 1757 Frankfort Ave. Owner Brett Davis and business partner Mo Deljoo spent years renovating the historic Hilltop Theater into a midcentury modern cocktail lounge. Last Word, Planter’s Punch, Vieux Carre and Brandy Crusta are some of the 100 classic cocktails on the drink menu. From bourbon to gin, vodka to rum, guests will enjoy perfectly-crafted drinks from award-winning bar manager Clay Livingston and his team, including Davis who is a Master Sommelier. Soon-to-be classics like the basil melon Collins and tequila gimlet will also be available. The food menu from chef Jacob Coronado complements the vast array of drinks. Dishes include charcuterie of local meats with spicy pickled green beans; Housemade mozzarella with flat bread; smoked BBQ pork bites; Nicoise salad lettuce cups; Crispy chicken skins; Buffalo poutine with house bourbon barrel hot sauce; Black Hawk Farm (Caldwell County) burger; and Kenny’s Farmhouse grilled cheese.

The signature white subway tile and vibrant blue Hilltop Theater sign remain on the outside of the building first opened in the early 1900s-era building. Inside, guests will be welcomed at the former ticket booth, now renovated with modern lighting. The walls feature exposed brick bordered by the intricately sculpted molding installed when the theater’s first opened. More contemporary touches update the space including hand-painted midcentury modern wallpaper designs by local artist Monica Mahoney, natural herringbone floors and Edison pendant lights. Bright accents of blue, green and red fill the walls and multiple dining and drinking areas. More than 100 seats are available at the downstairs bar, in the mezzanine or outside on the spacious patio adjacent to the building.
