New Association to Begin in Martinsville’s 2012 Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300
LOUISVILLE, KY (October 2nd, 2012) – A few weeks after announcing he will make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Debut in 2013 with legendary crew chief Lee McCall, 15-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, native Ben Rhodes has announced today he will drive the No. 41 Chevrolet for Hawk-McCall Motorsports in 22 events, racing the full 2013 UARA-STARS Late Model Stock tour as well as various NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events throughout the year.
The new pairing will begin this season as Rhodes will drive the #41 ride in the “Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300” Late Model Stock event at Martinsville Speedway (VA) on October 21st, and the “Myrtle Beach 400” Late Model event on November 18th.
Hawk-McCall Motorsports is the collaboration between Randy Hawkins, owner of AmPro Yamaha Factory Offroad Racing Team, and Lee McCall, a legendary fixture in motorsports with over 26 years of experience, including being a winning crew chief in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
“I am excited to get behind the wheel of the No. 41 Chevrolet for Hawk-McCall Motorsports, starting with the big Martinsville race in October this year,” said Rhodes. “Randy and Lee have years of experience and expertise in motorsports. Their combined knowledge of the sport and drive to succeed has me excited for the next step of my racing career.”
Rhodes recently had his seat mounted in the Hawk-McCall Motorsports Chevy, and will practice the car on Wednesday, October 3rd, at Martinsville Speedway for the upcoming big event.
“Ben and I have history working together last year and the beginning of this year, so we already have a great line of communication going into 2013,” said McCall. “We decided though to go ahead and race these two big events this year to get ready for our full season next year. The preparation of the car has been ongoing for multiple weeks.
“This is a great chapter in my racing career, not only being a crew chief, but a car owner as well,” continued McCall. “Hawk-McCall Motorsports is very excited to have such a talented 15 year old pilot the No. 41.”
