This just in: There will be no Snow Ball Park at Cardinal Stadium this winter.
The official announcement says this:
Snow Ball Park, a proposed Louisville winter attraction at the Kentucky exposition Center, has canceled its plan to open this winter.
The park’s operator, Rick Madden of Indianapolis, informed officials at the Kentucky exposition Center that conditions and delays in construction put the event too far behind schedule. The park was to open Friday, November 25 and run through January 16.
No other reason was given for the last-minute cancellation.
Was anyone skeptical about this idea when it was announced a while back? Me, too. Plus, it’s another piece of evidence showing that the Fair Board has no plan for using the empty space there, or for the property once known as Kentucky Kingdom.
A group working to re-open the amusement park, led by businessman Ed Hart, had its offer rejected by the Fair Board in September. Hart is now suing the state.
