An Idea for School Busing

Too much time on the bus

I swear I don’t understand why our “Board” thinks that busing is a good idea.  When I was a kid, in the south end, I lived where I walked to school for my first 9-10 years, including Kindergarten!!  The first time I rode a bus was going to Ahrens, in 10th grade, and THAT was a city bus, not a school bus.  How can we expect parents to attend functions and events when they are half-way across town at some school that the parents have never even seen?

And it doesn’t take a genius to determine that “enrolled” and “attended” SHOULD mean the same thing when it comes to schools and students.  I’ve got a grand-daughter that has to get up in the middle of the night, so she can catch her bus and ride all over creation and get to school on time.  Then at the end of the day, when kids should already be home, she’s still on the bus dropping kids off and getting home well past dinner time.  And our great leaders think this is OK????

Maybe I’ll partner with the Improv on 4th Street.  We can have the Comedy Caravan patrons park in the Mid-City Mall parking lot, and we’ll bus them to the Improv.  At the same time, the folks on 4th Street can pay for their parking, then board a bus for the Mid-City Mall and watch the show at the Comedy Caravan.  Makes about as much sense as what we are doing to our children!!!!!!
