2010 Scholarship Winner

As Director of the St James Court Art Show, I am often asked where do all the profits go from the Art Show? For me, I find one of the most rewarding distributions of money is to our College Scholarship program. This year we will be awarding $22,000 in College Scholarships for Louisville Metro high school seniors looking to pursue art degrees. Last year our winners were from four high schools:  Ballard; duPont Manual; New Albany: and, North Oldham.

The St. James Court art scholarship competition began in 1978 with a pledge of $1,000 to one artist.  Now in our 33rd year, we award nine scholarship pledges for portfolios in painting & illustration, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and best of show.  It is my goal to double our scholarships to $45,000 in the next 3 years. Although the economy is fighting against us, I think it is imperative we support young, new artists along their journey.

If you know a High School senior art student, have them check out the scholarship link on the St James Web Site.
