Superhero Night Headlines Louisville Bats 10-Game Homestand

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville Bats will host their first ever Superhero Night on Saturday, May 23 against the Pawtucket Red Sox at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats will wear special superhero-themed jerseys to be auctioned the following week with proceeds benefiting Dare to Care. Over 20 superheroes will be available in costume on Superhero Night for meet-and-greet and photo opportunities. Fans dressed in costume as superheroes will receive $3 off a field reserved ticket when buying at the ticket windows.

The Bats will open their homestand with three games against the Norfolk Tides on Monday, May 18 through Wednesday, May 20. On that Monday, the Senior PGA Fun Zonewill be set up in the Hall of Fame Pavilion and feature inflatables and putting games. There will also be $3 margaritas at the stand behind Section 122 on the third-base side forMargarita Monday.

Louisville Bats Superhero

The Pawtucket Red Sox then visit for three games after the Tides. The locally famous $1 Budweiser beer happy hour returns on Thursday, May 21 from 5:30-7 p.m. with live music by Timmy & Sharfe on the Overlook Deck from 5:30-6 p.m. Patriotic hats will be given to the first 2,000 paid admissions through the gates on Friday, May 22 and then Superhero Night will be Saturday, May 23. There will be a postgame performance by the Olate Dogs, the 2012 winners of America’s Got Talent, on Sunday, May 24 andMemorial Day Eve fireworks to finish the evening.

Military Appreciation Day will be on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 as the Bats open a three-game set with the Toledo Mud Hens with a 4:05 p.m. first pitch. To honor those who have served our country throughout the years, all veterans, active military, military family members, reservists and national guardsmen will receive free field reserved tickets with valid I.D., VSO membership card or DD Form 214.

A mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display in the Hall of Fame Pavilion beginning Memorial Day and lasting through the end of the homestand on Wednesday.The Bats will also make a POW/MIA Chair of Honor dedication before their Memorial Day game with the ceremony scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The POW/MIA Chair of Honor will be permanently located at the top of Section 130 of Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats return home from a 4-3 road trip that saw them earn their first sweep of the Gwinnett Braves on the road since 2010. Louisville is third place in the International League West, five games back of the Columbus Clippers. Second-year Bats pitcher Jon Moscot is 5-0 in six starts and holds a 2.39 ERA, seventh-best in the circuit. Infielder Iván De Jesús is batting .336, also seventh in the league.

The Bats have averaged 8,912 fans per game at Louisville Slugger Field since its opening in 2000 and have totaled over 9.4 million fans through 15 seasons.
