Wait, weren’t we just discussing the Highlands yesterday? The Deer Park neighborhood is a few blocks east of the long-running, soon-to-be “former” Bristol Bar & Grill.

If you’re a reader of a certain age (like me), any mention of 1534 Bardstown Rd. will prompt immediate and vivid memories of ear X-tacy (1985 – 2011), but more recently the space happily was brought back into the indie fold (following a chain Panera occupation) by Ernesto Rivera and his Tacos D’ Amor & More.

As an aside, our departed and sorely missed leader John Carlos White took great joy in tracking local food service additions and subtractions, updating F & D’s restaurant listings and maps via his legendary customized Google spreadsheets, which comprised a fascinating and convoluted gumbo of competing color codes, oblique symbols and internet links.
It was one step removed from Egyptian hieroglyphics, but actually every damn thing I needed for my work was right there — once I learned to speak pidgin spreadsheet.
Now there is one fewer Tacos D’ Amor & More, than there was before, and I’ll leave it at that. My former F & D colleague Michael L. Jones has collected the facts at Louisville Business First.

Tacos D Amor closes Highlands location
…Ernesto Rivera, co-owner of Tacos D Amor & More, said the restaurant at 1534 Bardstown Road closed Monday, Feb. 23. The chain, formerly known as I Love Tacos, opened the Highlands store in early 2021.
The 4,300‑square‑foot space previously housed a Panera Bread, which shuttered in June 2020, and before that the longtime record store Ear X‑tacy, which closed in 2011. The property is owned by Worpla LLC, according to city records.
