A refresher course: “If it’s legal, it ain’t speakeasy.”

Speaking factually, any “speakeasy” today, just as during Prohibition, must by definition be illegal for it to be termed a speakeasy, and when deprived of this necessary illicitness by virtue of perfectly pragmatic business principles (read: the fear of being raided, shut down and prosecuted), and bearing various government licenses and a tax number, such an establishment reverts to the status of bar, tavern or dive.

Of course, the prerequisites of universal cosplay suggest otherwise, but here we are.
