TGIF Local Lunch Post – Morris’ Is the Best Deli For Your Belly

This won't last long! Take some extra napkins.

The no-frills thrill of a freshly sliced and stacked sandwich in a brown paper sack is what keeps us coming back to Morris’ Liquor & Deli for years. With two locations, Taylorsville Road. at Bardstown Road in the upper Highlands and downtown on 2nd Street at the Y they are set up to feed the need.

The friendliest and most proficient lunch rush crews in town take good care of you from the moment the menu gazing begins until you are headed out the door with a delicious meal in  your sack for under $10.

Dress it up city or country with pimento cheese, Kentucky cured country ham, smoked turkey, pepper jack or provolone,  crisp sweet, sour or hot pickles. At Morris’, you are the architect of your appetite. A baloney sandwich, triangle cut please, is as popular as some of the Dagwood-sized meat, cheese and produce creations.

It’s cold out there today so you’ll need to add some soup  – which are vegetable beef, chili, chicken  noodle, white bean, broccoli cheese and tomato basil. (Not all of these soups are on the 2nd Street menu.) Check out the fridge for containers of homemade  savory sides including creamy Cole slaw, macaroni or rotini salad, barbecue bean, and German and American potato salad.

The grocery shelves are stocked with endless styles of chips  and grab a  bottle Dr. Brown’s cream soda while you’re at it.  There is some table space and be prepared to share a meal and conversation. Or just take it  all back to the office and enjoy.

Thanks as always for feeding the local economy! Enjoy your weekend.
