You’ll enjoy Louisville historic preservation as much as you will the pork when you find a table and open the menu full of southern soul cookin’ at Smoketown USA.
The Smoketown USA building was built in 1862 and has served as a vital business location for Germantown and Smoketown communities since the Civil War era. It’s been a grocery, feed and seed store, and a livery to name a few. Eric and Lynn Gould purchased and restored the property, then opened Smoketown USA BBQ in the spring of 2007.
One unique and most welcomed items on the menu is that all the sides are vegetarian- friendly, seasoned with spices and roasted vegetable base.
If you’re six years of age or under, bring your parents in for a free dine-in meal every day. C’mon, Mom! I bet they’ll dig into a bowl of greens but if not there’s always Smoketown’s own mac ‘n’ cheese or a PB&J for the sweet tooth.
As for the “anything goes” set, you’re going to love Denni’s Yard Sale. Everything in the restaurant has a story and a price tag. From the cupboards and kitchen in the restaurant to work by area artists, there’s almost anything that can go home with you after lunch.
Not many folks who partake in local dining establishments have cups and bowls along side leftovers in their doggy bags.

Heads up for next weekend – ring in the 5th Annual Fall Festivus (for the rest of us!), on the corner of Oak and Logan this year at Smoketown USA. Saturday, Sept 29 from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m.The celebration is both edible and eclectic – from pit BBQ, chili tasting, live music, yard sale booths, and art.
