The Bard’s Town leaves Bardstown (Road) for new digs in Meriwether

As a prelude to The Bard Town’s relocation-in-progress, here at F&D we seek to be properly locational. When speaking of a business, geography matters.

As such, Louisville’s somewhat obscure Meriwether neighborhood (sometimes spelled Merriwether; population 1,609) is a triangular sliver of ground with Shelby Park to the north, Schnitzelburg the east and S. Preston St. to the southwest.

This digression is prompted by a random comment I saw on Twitter, which applauded The Bard’s Town’s arrival in Shelby Park. To be sure, the difference with Meriwether appears to be a distance of only 100 yards.

Still, WDRB’s news item specifies Meriwether.

A restaurant and bar on Bardstown Road is moving into Louisville’s Meriwether neighborhood. The Bard’s Town posted on social media on Tuesday its intentions to move into a new space at the corner of Burnett and Meriwether avenues.

And so does Louisville Business First’s.

A popular Highlands restaurant and live entertainment venue is relocating to a vacant church in the Meriwether neighborhood later this year.
