The Jack Fry Story from Louisville Uncovered
Jack Fry's, the iconic restaurant in the Highlands, is a big part of the River City's booming culinary scene. But as Cyndy Tandy discovered, it was a different story when it opened in 1933.
Legend has it that Jack Fry and his wife Flossy ran a bookmaking operation from the back of the restaurant in its early days. Fry shut down his restaurant in 1972, and it became (like every restaurant that closes) a stop for Mexican food. But when new owners took over in 1987, it became the classic Jack Fry's that we've come to know and love. Jack Fry passed away that very year.
Jack Fry's is known these days for its good times, good food and good drinks.
