The Reality — Mint Jubilee’s Big Attractions

OK, Concentrate really hard. Think Sunshine. It’s bound to come sooner or later, just not in the next few days.

All this rain guarantees we will have good weather Derby Week, so let’s talk about that. This morning the Mint Jubilee announced that it has an impressive list of celebrities lined up for the big party on Derby Eve at the Palace.

Matt Battaglia, hosting the party along with Chris Thieneman and his brother Tom Thieneman Jr., is pulling out the stops to pull in the celebs. And if meeting reality TV stars is your thing, the Jubilee is your party. And it’s just 11 days away.

Idol winner Kris Allen

American Idol winner Kris Allen and 2007 winner Jordin Sparks are on the guest list, and they’re planning to be part of the stage show. There’s this blonde star of “Housewives of Orange County”,  Vicki Gunvalson, and several others. The shindig will be hosted by Bob Costas of NBC, who met his wife at a Mint Jubilee party several years ago.

The Jubilee is back after a one-year hiatus, with its original co-founders. Money raised by the event goes to the Mint Jubilee Foundation, which will award grants to cancer-related charities.

But perhaps the most intriguing aspect is the transformation of the Palace. Organizers will build a floor atop the seats in the main theater, elevating everyone and giving the space a completely different look. And sponsorships include Chambord (they’ve concocted a signature drink) and the Comfy Cow.

Tickets are available at 995-8325. Cancer survivors can buy tickets discounted to $200.
