Also, Tom Mabe got 2nd best local comedian, And Terry Meiners, Rachel Platt and Eric Crawford received media awards.
Look Who’s Back on TV: Claudia Coffey, who left her news anchor job in March 2014, is back on the air at WHAS-TV. Her Facebook post says she’s just filling in for Kelsey Starks. Here’s what I wrote about it then. Coffey since accepted a position as executive director of the Louisville Apartment Association.

Magre’s Social Media Strike: In response to an Insider Louisville story in which the PR firm hired by the out-of-state owners defended the motel’s record, claiming it has been unfairly targeted, Councilman Steve Magre sent out an official release directing readers to complaints on the motel’s Facebook page. His quote: “For an organization that has spent this whole year trying to convince media and public that the long awaited clean up at their hotel has wings now, I must ask why would the owners and managers allow the Facebook page forwarded here to remain up? I hope you ask them.”
That’s 9 tons of food: The goal of Yum! Brands End Hunger Drive-Thru is to collect 1,000 pounds of food for each of the 18 years since its founding. I spoke about that, among other things, with Laura Melillo Barnum this week at the big White House. There’s a life-size Col. Sanders in the lobby there, and he’s a little bit creepy.
Joe’s Isn’t Getting Any Older: We’re gonna miss Joe’s Older Than Dirt in Lyndon, where most of us have had some sort of experience involving drinking. But as Insider Louisville’s Steve Coomes reported, the real estate will be home to something new and exciting – the Red Barn Kitchen.
