This cleanup will kick off the first stage of activation of Waterfront Park Phase IV, helping to prepare the site for the installment of temporary seating, swings, lighting, landscaping, and signage. These site improvements will begin later this fall, and are intended to activate the site and make it usable during fundraising and design development. The public will be able to enjoy portions of Phase IV’s stunning views of both downtown and the Ohio River.

While MSD’s tunnel project will occupy the majority of the site through 2020, the area immediately along the river is available for park development as soon as funding is raised. The first phases will include the observation pier and railyard plaza, experiential play area, activity lawns and flexible event space.

The Phase IV Cleanup is part of Brightside and Passport Health Plan’s Community-Wide Cleanup to pick up litter and beautify sites across Louisville. Brightside will provide free supplies and coordinate trash collection with their partners at Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management. The Community Cleanup is sponsored by Passport Heath Plan.
