Louisville, Ky., – It looks like University of Louisville Athletic Director Tom Jurich and Men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino are on an extended vacation, albeit involuntarily. According to news reports blanketing television, radio and social media, the two have been suspended “effective immediately”. This comes one day after UofL was notified that it’s is under federal investigation. News reports say the basketball program is under FBI investigation for fraud involving Adidas.

According to a UofL press release, university president Dr. Greg Postel informed the men of their suspension following allegations that “a men’s basketball coach participated with an apparel company and others in a scheme to pay a recruit to come to the university.”

Postel says the allegations are serious.

“It is vital for this university to strictly adhere to NCAA rules and, of course, federal law,” Postel said in the press release. “Doing nothing would be a tacit endorsement of potential criminal and unethical behavior.”

Jurich has been suspended with pay. Pitino will not be paid.
