Evan Graham, 21, is in Kentucky today, enjoying Thunder over Louisville, and taking a break from his solo 3,000-mile bicycle trek from San Diego to Washington, D.C.
I met Evan during a stay at the Southern Grace Bed & Breakfast in Brandenburg, Ky. He had biked his way to Mammoth Cave, where his Mom picked him up and brought him for a respite from the road at the wonderful Southern Grace.
He’s a recent graduate of the University of Manitoba, and has raised an amazing $10,000 through his Cycling for Schizophrenia website. Amazingly, he’s been doing 90 miles a day since March 18, even during a few days when a knew was hurting and he pedaled with one leg – all day long. He expects to finish in 40 days or less.
