I’d hate to be the switchboard operator at WAVE-3 TV in Louisville tonight. Instead of Kentucky fans tuning in to see the Cats take on the Razorbacks fans saw a Technical Difficulties message on their TV for some 15 Minutes .
As of this post, the Louisville TV station has not said what the problem was (that will probably be talked about during tonight’s newscast).
Don’t necessary blame WAVE-3 for the problem. As a former TV anchor/reporter I can tell you when a problem like tonight’s occurs, everyone at a TV station does their best (from the technicians in the control room on up) to find the source of a problem and fix it.
My bet is the feed from Arkansas was bad. Remember WAVE 3 also lost ad revenue during the 15 minutes so it was in their best interest to get the signal re-established.
You may have a loud sigh just about 8:05 pm. That was the management at staff at the other TV station in town breathing a collective sigh of relief that their station wasn’t the one with the problem.
