12 Things You Should Know about Abbey Road on the River

1. The legendary Zombies will invade Abbey Road on the River on Saturday, May 27 at 8:45pm to perform their hits such as “Tell Her No,” “She’s Not There,” and “Time Of The Season.” The Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle, was recorded at the Abbey Road studios in June of 1967, right after The Beatles finished recording Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. John Lennon’s Mellotron (used in “Strawberry Fields”) was also used during The Zombies’ recording session.
2. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals will take stage on Sunday, May 28 at 8:45pm. The band has 4 Hall of Fame Inductions, 6 top 20 albums, 4 #1 hits, and 10 top 20 singles, including “Beautiful Morning,” “Good Lovin'” and “Groovin.”
3. Prudence Farrow, the enigmatic subject of one of the Beatles most recognized songs from The White Album, will speak about her days with The Beatles, the facts behind the rumors, and how Transcendental Meditation has improved her life. Could Prudence be the most famous living subject of a classic song? We think so.
4. Shannon, often called The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist, will demonstrate her extraordinary talent in the lobby of The Muhammad Ali Center May 27-29.
5. The festival’s greatest musical creation will return this year when 25 musicians perform The Beatles LOVE album note-for-note just as it was arranged by the late Sir George Martin, to whom the concert will be dedicated.
6. The festival will kick off with a free lunchtime concert on Thursday, May 26th from 11:30am-1:30pm on the YUM Center plaza featuring The Cryers and the FABGirls from Brazil.
7. On Monday, Memorial Day, the festival will highlight the best of classic rockwith tribute shows to The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, and the great David Bowie.
8. There will be over 75 complete album concerts, including 6 performances of the magnum opus that inspired our festival, Abbey Road.
9. In addition to concerts, there are many other things for attendees to enjoy at the festival, including presentations by Julia Baird (John Lennon’s sister), discounted admission to exhibits at the Muhammad Ali Center, an amazing display of Gretsch Guitars and Crosley turntables, and a Beatles merchandise marketplace.
10. There are two ways to save $10 on tickets – use code “WAVE3News” when you purchase online before May 26th or arrive before 2:00pm on Saturday or Sunday and purchase tickets at the on-site box office.
11. Each year, Abbey Road on the River draws a crowd of 20,000 attendees and generates close to one million dollars of economic impact.
