Things would have been different if. . . cn/2 did an interview yesterday with Bruce Lunsford, who seems to b e enjoying life away from politics. He thinks Steve Beshear will win in mandate-fastion in the Governor’s Race, and that, well, he hasn’t done much as governor. Lunsford said Beshear has failed to articulate a vision for his time in office.
I can’t help but think how things might have been different if he had won the May 2007 primary (note: I worked on his campaign). With running mate Greg Stumbo, he finished second in a hotly-contested primary. Lunsford ran against Mitch McConnell for Senate in 2008, then said he was done with politics. He confirmed his intention to stay out of politics in the interview with Ryan Alessi, and I don’t blame hm.
Lunsford stays busy with his Horseracing interests, and is a partner in Hart-Lunsford Pictures, with Ed Hart. That company’s newest film, Dirty Girl, has a Louisville premier Oct. 16.
Look Who’s on Twitter: It’s Rep. John Yarmuth. From #RepJohnYarmuth:” Today is my first day using Twitter. As a former journalist, I hope I’m up to the challenge of condensing my thoughts into 140 characters.”
Mandy vs. King and James: I heard a volatile interview on Mandy Connell’s show this morning with Metro Council members Jim King and David James. Connell says a piece of legislation passed through a council committee shows that the council cares more about protecting unions than keeping taxpayers informed on the cost of union contracts. Quote from James: “Mandy, I understand that you don’t understand.” It’s a partisan issue, with council Republicans opposed to the measure that keeps certain information from public eyes. Dems says the measure protects their ability to negotiate union contracts. The full council will take it up Oct. 13. (WFPL)
