A new mural just completed in the Highlands puts a label on the area — weird, independent and proud.
The Highland Commerce Guild sponsored a contest to design the mural, with a $1,000 prize to the winning artists — Bryan Todd and Kirby Stafford. The whole process, from Contest period to Mural completion, took about 3 months.
There were 16 entries, and the painting took three days, with the paint donated by Dages Paint. It’s at the corner of Bardstown Road and Lucia.
The Guild will host a mural reception party Sept. 30.
