Both come from Florida, but Yonutz should never be mistaken for Stugotz.
Last year, Yonutz materialized in Louisville, and here at F & D, we added this listing.
Yonutz (12939 Shelbyville Rd.)
A Florida chain purveyor of dessert treats comes to Middletown with requisite self-confidence: “a world where the ordinary is smashed.” In essence, the result is ice cream is “smashed” between the halves of a doughnut, with numerous flavors of both available for mixing and matching.
When I was younger, I quite enjoyed getting smashed, but in my dotage, the connotations have evolved.
Now Cherokee Triangle can be added as a second franchise iteration, officially called Yonutz Franchise-ical Fantastical Donuts and Ice Cream. Reporting at Louisville Business First, the ever intrepid Michael L. Jones has a look.
Yonutz to open new Highlands location in April
A South Florida-based dessert chain will open its second Greater Louisville location in the Highlands in April. Yonutz Fantastical Donuts and Ice Cream will be located at 1449 Bardstown Road in a nearly 3,000-square-foot space next to Green District Salads.
Ben Hiner said the Highlands location will be based on Yonutz’s new “clawcade” concept, featuring skill-based, high-tech machines inside the dessert shop. “It’s gonna have a bunch of arcade-type claw machines, like Japanese-style machines, so you win the stuffed animals and all that kind of stuff,” Hiner said. “It’s a big section for claw machines and arcade games and other stuff for the kids.”
Smash-nuts and clawcades?
April, grasshopper. April.
