LEO Weekly has hired former WAVE-TV reporter Anne Marshall to replace Phillip Bailey in its newsroom. Bailey moved over to WFPL-FM as a reporter.
Editor Sarah Kelley said Marshall has great story-telling skills and has been doing freelance writing in Nashville, including some work for SouthComm, LEO’s owner.
Marshall left WAVE-TV in 2006 in a move up to WSMV-TV in Nashville. The IU grad left TV work in 2008 and pursued a Masters degree in Non-Fiction Writing from Goucher College in Baltimore.
Kelley said that Marshall has done stories on homelessness and education in Nashville, and was looking forward to returning to Louisville. LEO’s other reporter, Jonathan Meador, will likely pick up more of the reporting on local politics, Kelley said.
Also at LEO, music editor Matt Herron left the paper after five years to focus on a budding career as a record label owner. Kelley said she’s interviewing candidates to replace Herron, and expects to hire someone soon.
