LOUISVILLE, KY  – Are you ready to explore an online education—for free? Starting today,lynda.com, a premier online learning company, will be available to all library cardholders through the Louisville Free Public Library’s website. Thanks to a grant from Mayor Greg Fischer’s Office of Performance Improvement (OPI), the Library was able to purchase this service for library users.

Lynda.com for Libraries offers more than 3,200 courses—spanning photography, Microsoft Office, computer programming, video game design, Adobe Creative Suite, and many more—providing training for anyone who wants to learn business, software, technology, or creative skills. Whether you’re an educator, run a business, or are simply interested in developing new skills, lynda.com offers the tools you need.

“We are taking steps on many fronts to make Louisville a city of lifelong learning and develop a better-educated, better prepared workforce,” Mayor Greg Fischer said. “The Library’s new online courses and training offers people of all ages, anywhere in our community, the chance to learn skills they need to grow and be successful.”

Library patrons will have free access to lynda.com from home or at the library, simply by logging on to LFPL.org/Lynda and entering their library card number and password when prompted.

Lynda.com is just one more way the Library is helping support our patrons in their pursuit of lifelong learning,” said LFPL Interim Director, Lisa Sizemore. “Individual subscribers currently pay $375 a year to access lynda.com. But thanks to the grant from OPI, we are able to offer this incredible service for FREE to all library card holders.”
