Mayor Rudy Guiliani: Why Common Sense Should Overcome Ideology

By Barbara Day, M.S., R.D., C.N.

This trip to Louisville  wasn’t the first time former Mayor Rudy Guiliani has been in Kentucky. When he was a young lawyer, he was tasked with helping a Kentucky coal company in Hazard, Kentucky, who had filed Chapter 11 reorganize and restructure to continue to serve the people of Kentucky. He was successful. The company thrived.

Mayor Guiliani was in town to show his support for Todd P’Pool who is running for Attorney General of Kentucky. Mayor Guiliani, a former prosecutor, like P’Pool, is accomplished prosecutor who successfully prosecuted elected officials, Wall Street Criminals.  Mayor Guiliani thinks a real prosecutor should serve as any state’s attorney general rather than just a lawyer who has little or no prosecutor experience which is why he took his time to come to Louisville to show his support for P’Pool.  He commended P’Pool on his platform to fight the EPA in Kentucky and their unending devastating federal regulations that will save coal jobs in Eastern Kentucky. The current state administration ideology’s seems to follow the Obama Administration’s energy policies which put Kentucky on a job destruction path in the coal industry.

One of Mayor Guiliani message was simple “Obama’s EPA is running the coal business out of Kentucky and other areas of the United States.   Obama wants no more coal, no more nuclear power, we are going to do wind and solar only. Obama’s Ideology trumps common sense.”

Why is America Not Growing?

Mayor Guiliani said “a professor at Columbia University research has suggested by research that stopping the drilling in the Gulf of Mexico has cost over 200,000 jobs in the region. Two to three oil rigs are shutting down on a daily basis and going elsewhere to drill for other companies. The EPA is a job destroyer for the US and for KY.”

Mayor Guiliani suggested that “America should become energy dependent and develop our own resources rather than depend on the Middle East and South America for own energy. America has more coal than any other country in the world and now India and China are buying our coal.”

Mayor Guiliani said “China is growing by 10-12% yearly and expanding their use of coal while America is shutting down coal production. China is coming to Texas to learn art of fracking (http://www.energyfromshale.org/shale-extraction-process).” Fracking is the development of oil from shale. Mayor Guiliani contends that “Fracking can ensure America is energy dependent, however, the Obama administration is trying to shut down our energy independence. While China increases their economy through economic growth, the US is stifled by regulations. China is building 40 new nuclear power plants and the US is not interested in nuclear power.”

Affordable Care Not So Affordable & a Definite Job Killer

Mayor Guiliani insists that Affordable Care is a job killer. “Obamacare will force our economy to be held back. Businesses have no idea how much Obamacare will cost them so they are reluctant to hire. Todd P’Pool wants to become part of the other 26 states that are challenging the individual mandate.  If you can be mandated by the Federal Government to buy a health insurance policy, they can mandate you to do anything. Do you know anyone that goes to Canada or England for their health care? No, they come to the US for their health care. Obamacare will destroy health care in America.”

It was obvious that Mayor Guiliani is no longer in campaign mode.  The pressure is off. When asked about his preference for the current GOP group looking to run against Obama he predicted the top three would be Mitt Romney, Herman Cain and Rick Perry. While he knows all of the candidates well, he said currently prefers Rick Perry. He said the economy and jobs are critical and all the other STUFF that the mainstream media is trying to play GOTCHA ON will not be the determining factor in 2012. Mayor Guiliani thinks if unemployment goes down to 8% (that’s 1% lower) that Obama will probably get re-elected.
