The House of Marigold (10310 Shelbyville Road in Middletown) was profiled by Cary Stemle in Food & Dining Magazine’s Fall 2024 edition (Vol. 83).
A group of young women have just finished their meals, and now they’re lining up for photographs in front of the restaurant. Painted white with gold trim, the façade features the restaurant’s name in gold type, above an array of windows adorned with delicate etched-glass flowers. Flowers are a recurring theme.
They finish, and two more women take up the position. They’re down from Cincinnati to check out this fun feminine brunch spot they’ve heard about. They can hardly wait.
Something’s happening, here.
Now the restaurant is planning to open a second location in Norton Commons, with a target date of summer 2025. Following are excerpts from the information release.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 14, 2025) The House of Marigold has announced a second restaurant location will open its doors in the Norton Commons neighborhood this summer at 10715 Meeting St.
This is the latest venture from partners Adrienne and Kris Cole, who opened the restaurant’s flagship Southern comfort full-service breakfast and lunch concept in Louisville’s Middletown area in March 2023, earning significant local and national media coverage and recognition as one of the most sought-after dining tables in the city.
Adrienne and Kris have worked in the restaurant industry for more than three decades collectively — Adrienne in management and front-of-house roles and Kris in the kitchen. As culinary director, Kris offers a unique, carefully crafted menu of dishes in his signature seasonal comfort food style, incorporating fresh meats, produce and ingredients sourced from a variety of local purveyors.
As owner and co-founder, Adrienne, who has been locally and nationally recognized as a dynamic female restaurateur, sees the brand’s continued success as another opportunity to be a role model for others. Named Southern Living Magazine’s “Best Restaurant in Kentucky in 2024,” the Coles take great pride in the restaurant’s ability to provide an elevated, yet memorable hospitality experience and accessible, farm-to-table food to customers that feel like family.
The House of Marigold Middletown location offers full-service breakfast and lunch menus, craft cocktails and a robust coffee program to guests Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with pop-up dinners and special events in the...Read more
